Dock Layouts
Dock Layouts let you build your own Sample Vault workspace. Arrange any combination of panels — sample browser, file browser, AI assistant, similar samples, note editor, and more — into a tabbed layout that matches how you actually produce.
Creating a Layout
- Open the Layouts menu from the title bar
- Click New Layout and give it a name
- Drag panels into position — split the view horizontally, vertically, or nest them as tabs within the same pane
- Resize panes by dragging the dividers between them
Layouts are saved automatically as you make changes.
Available Panels
| Panel | Description |
|---|
| Sample Browser | Browse and filter your full sample library |
| File Browser | Navigate your directory tree and manage samples |
| AI Assistant | Chat-based sample search and recommendations |
| Prompt Search | Semantic search by description, mood, or genre |
| Similar Samples | Automatically surfaces samples similar to what you’re playing |
| Note Editor | Write notes and to-do lists for your projects |
Switching Between Layouts
Open the Layouts menu at any time to switch to a saved layout. Switching is non-destructive — your previous layout is always preserved.
Modifying and Deleting Layouts
- Rename: Open the layout menu, click the layout name, and type a new one
- Reset: Drag panels back into your preferred arrangement and the layout saves automatically
- Delete: Remove a layout from the layouts menu — this does not affect your samples or notes
Tips
Create one layout for browsing (file browser + sample browser + similar samples) and another for composing (assistant + note editor + a narrow sample browser). Switch between them with one click as your session shifts from finding sounds to building ideas.
You can open the same panel in multiple panes — for example, two Sample Browser instances with different filters applied side by side.
